Vigo's dad was an anarchist who adopted the name Almereyda, an anagram for "y a la merde", or "there is shit".

Interestingly, the original title for L'ATALANTE was "Isthay Ittysay Uckssay".

Ah, French cinephile. Have you seen Au revoir, les enfants?

I once saw a she-bear shit in the Alsatian woods and then leave it there.

Luckily Artemis sent hunters to raise the merde to adulthood.

Jerell, I have seen that. (And I only get to see what the library has handy.) It's very moving. Darn those sell-out nuns.

Director Louis Malle was married to Candace Bergan. I always hoped he'd cast Edgar Bergan's dummies in a film. Mortimer Snerd would've been great in Vanya on 42nd Street.
