Obediah is Leonard's Amish character. An aspiring comedian and mental patient who assumes the identity of anyone he encounters: a black comic, a chick comic, a gay comic and an alien.
Yep it's Sharing. Like kids with a toy are supposed to. Or folks with unique talents.
Leonard's the Godfather of alt comedy in Atlanta. He was entertaining the more adventurous folks at Jerry Farber's old Buckhead nightclub laugh--and confusing the others. 'Course that was when Buckhead had a decent bookstore.
This set was a rush job at the tail end of a Five Spot open mic with the band ready to set up and a rowdy crowd making too much noise. Ever gracious, Leonard kept his set tight lest we raise the ire of anxious jam band fans. (They can spin toward you pretty ominously.)
Leonard really needs to start playing theatres. A one-man show. Or maybe a 2-man thing where some dolt kills time between costume changes. (Yo Leonard, I'm a dolt!) But I think he prefers bars and nightclubs. He's a populist at heart.
But he says he'll give me some archives to post so stay tuned.
would love to hear them. Wish they were videotaped, too, but if wishes and buts were clusters of nuts, we'd all have a bowl of granola. I sent the link to Leslie, and she loved it. (she doesn't frequent the blogs or know how to post on them.)
