I Love a One-Man Allegorical Parade

Atlanta performance artist Ben Fain presents Gemini's Brine tonight in the parking lot at Masquerade.

Next week look for a piece titled "Man in a Mastodon T-shirt Looking to Score Some Weed" in the same location.

The Masquerade is to go condo soon though I've been doing this bit for almost 2 years now:

I did go. It was interesting and a neat idea but a little underwhelming for all the fuss. Renting the parking lot, portable lights and bleachers, security and even an ambulance at the end all to move a couple of the floats a few feet over (the rest just sat there) and fake off a cop. But not in an action movie kinda way, in a drawn-out performance art kinda way.

It needed better music and more movement. Maybe if he'd skimped on the wine or champagne bottles they smashed--you really couldn't tell from that far away--he could have had a live band and dancers. But that'd be more like a show than a visual piece you ponder over.

It was sorta like the Mughal Emporer saluting his 3rd favorite wife by commissioning a giant lean-to.
